I experienced driving faults while on my journey, I contacted the owner and informed him and then I returned the vehicle 2 days early. I have been told by the owner I won’t get a refund as his mechanic can’t find a fault. Very disappointing care. The van itself is very dark inside, the bed is not full size, almost a foot of the mattress curves up the wall, it’s quite strange how it’s been done really. The van is only capable of being off grid for an hour, so the fridge and amenities are not usable or able to be powered unless your on hook up. So you can’t even have the fridge in use when travelling. The vehicle drives rough. It pulls to the right above 50mph and the steering wheel shakes, there is a large crunching noise from the front end when you turn full lock, with the owners lack of responsibility towards the mechanical faults I highlighted I would be very careful hiring this vehicle as I felt it was unfit for drive and this hasn’t been resolved. The van is basically a van with a bed fitted and some temporary amenities ie 12v fridge, I would not describe this as a Campervan, more so a day van or van with bed. It most certainly isn’t an off grid van.

This campervan has been hired for the last few y years and there has never been a complaint from any hirers except this one. The electricity comes from a solar panel so it is bound to run oout of electricity. However there is a back up b battery which was pointed out to the hirer. She forgot to mention this! The hirer claimed that she drove from Loanhead to Motherwell and only managed to drive halfway to Newcastle and had to return back. She then claimed she returned the van and had not been anywhere else. This would give a mileage of 220 miles. However she did manage 380 miles which suggests that she did manage to get to Newcastle and back! The hirer told us that the ssteering was defective but after driving the van myself and having a mechanic check it we could find no fault. The hirer told us that she had arranged an AA inspection to be carried out on a Friday morning from 8am - 12 noon. No inspection took place. There was no excuse or apology. We are sorry that the hirer was disappointed in her hire. We did spend a lot of time cleaning the van and we discovered that the window sill was scratched by her dogs.
