Meet Vera, a handcrafted tiny home on wheels, built during a sabbatical with real adventures in mind. Every part of her design balances comfort, practicality and true off-grid freedom.
Vera has been road-tested across the Outer Hebrides, Scotland and Wales in every season, from windswept coastal nights to crisp winter mornings and long summer road trips.
Inside, Vera has three belted front seats, a cosy dining area for two and a fixed bed sleeping up to two people (no nightly converting – just arrive, unwind and climb straight in). The bed features a bespoke Linthorpe small double mattress that’s one of Vera’s best features. Bedding is included with every booking, so all you need to bring are your clothes, food and sense of adventure. Towels are available as an optional extra if you’d prefer to travel light.
Heating is provided by a diesel heater fed directly from the main fuel tank, complete with a key-fob remote so you can warm Vera before stepping inside on chilly mornings or evenings. Wind deflectors, a roof vent and a Fiamma Turbo Vent fan provide excellent ventilation whatever the weather.
Built for proper off-grid adventures, Vera has a 280Ah lithium leisure battery, 350W solar panel, 2000W inverter and split-charge system, giving you the freedom to stay comfortably without electric hook-ups.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook proper meals on the road, including a two-ring gas hob, air fryer, electric fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, pans, crockery, cutlery and all the everyday essentials. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar are also provided to help you settle in. Just bring food and you’re ready to go.
Outside, Vera comes with two Vango Divine camping chairs, a folding table, Fiamma awning and waterproof outdoor rug – perfect for everything from a morning coffee to relaxing evenings under the stars.
For toilet facilities, you can choose between a traditional Porta Potti or a Trelino separating toilet. Simply let me know your preference before your trip and I’ll have your chosen option ready for your arrival.
Vera also has pumped cold running water with separate 20L fresh and waste water tanks under the sink, along with a safe for storing valuables securely.
In the cab you’ll find a touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation, music and hands-free calls, plus a JBL Bluetooth speaker for relaxing at camp.
Warm LED ceiling lighting creates a cosy atmosphere inside, while a rechargeable bedside light is perfect for reading before bed.
For your peace of mind, Vera is equipped with a fire extinguisher, fire blanket, smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm.
Vera is dog friendly (up to two dogs). Furry companions are very welcome. Please bring your own blankets for the seats and bed, ensure dogs are clean and dry before coming inside, and remove any hair or mud before returning Vera to help keep her lovely for the next guests.
I’m always happy to share favourite routes, campsite recommendations and local tips to help you make the most of your adventure.
